Ironclad Team Photo Day

Class of 2012 photo day - Team Ironclad ©Catherine Cooper

The Ironclad squad got together recently for team photo day, and we're particularly proud that they decided to flaunt two team members front and center: The bikes, that is. Thanks for the great season so far, and we're stoked to have the Veloforma rigs be part of many more glorious miles to come!

Crit, Track and Stage Race Glory: Sizzle Pie-Veloforma, Ironclad & Paceline Projects-Veloforma Rocket through July

Capt Dave coaches Ironclad's Jenn Levo on race-winning tactics. ©Ironcladcycling.comA gaggle of super-talented Veloforma athletes have been rocking the results boards in everywhere from the velodrome in Seattle to NRC stage races to national-caliber crits. Along the way, these racers have sent in glowing reports on their Veloforma ridea and confirmed the versatility of the carbon Strada SLR road and Pista Pro track bikes that have succesfully translated their power to fast forward motion. We're super proud to work with these partners. In case you missed these blurs of speed, here's a quick update:

Stage Race Sensation
Ironclad's Brianna Walle recruited a couple of Elite Seattle riders to join her on a composite team for the National Road Calendar (NRC) Cascade Cycling Classic in Bend, Oregon. The six-day stage race wrapped up yesterday (Sunday, July 22nd), and after many miles and some injuries, by the end she was the lone Ironclad-Yakima racer left standing.

Volcano Racing: Mount Tabor Wraps Up with Series and Stage Wins

The Sizzle Pie / Veloforma fivesome races for Richardson at Tabor.Adrian Richardson held the Elite men's series lead into the River City Mount Tabor Series finale last Wednesday, and his Sizzle Pie p/b Veloforma team showed up en masse to lend a hand. Richardson's third place on the night was enough to claim the overall (and Veloforma's own Josh Liberles of the HPC/RPM Mortgage team finished just behind for the night, in fourth).

Brianna Walle (Ironclad Performance Wear) used her impressive finishing speed to stake her own claim, propelling her Veloforma to the win in the dash to the line.

Six Wednesday circuit races make up the series, and challenging 1.3-mile course takes place on Mount Tabor, the dormant volcano in southeast Portland. Josh wrote a profile of the historic venue for BikePortland as area racers prepared for an astounding 60th year of Tabor racing. Read more about that here, and check out Richardson's series report below:

Portland's Crit Season Kicks Off; Veloformas Are All up in there

Anna Christiansen leads eventual race winner Jade Wilcoxson through the corner. ©Dave RothIt's summertime and the living is... damned fast! To make up for dark, wet winters, Oregon is piling on 16 hours of sun per day and lots of high-paced race action. Giro Events hosted its inaugural edition of the St. Honore Criterium in Northwest Portland on Sunday, and Veloforma was well represented throughout the day. Leading the way in the Elite races were Ironclad's Anna Christiansen and HPC-Alpine Mortgage's Josh Liberles. They each landed on the podium with third places in their respective races, good enough for some cash, glory and a reportedly delicious wreath-shaped baked good courtesy of St Honore Bakery.

When you're looking for a new road rig, come and check out Veloforma's carbon Strada SLR – it's a versatile, do-everything bike, and its incredible stiffness and geometry certainly make it a criterium killer. Check out Oregon Cycling Action's post for more on the race, and Dave Roth's gallery for plenty more photos.

Post-race recovery bread-wreaths to the podiumers.

National Jerseys, Track Wins, Stage Racing, 6-Hour MTBs: A Weekend of Veloforma Racing

Brent Emoff and Al Urbanski win the Alpenrose Six-Day and FIAC National Championship. ©Jennifer AnnIt's been a busy week for us at Veloforma, as well as for our athletes. We had top-notch athletes out piloting our carbon bikes for fast velodrome loops, long Mt Hood off-road laps, and over everything from mountain passes to downtown criterium courses at the Baker City Classic. Too bad there weren't any cyclocross races in the Northwest this past weekend, or we'd surely have impressive results coming in across the boards.

Brent Emoff and Al Urbanski of Sizzle Pie Cycling p/b Veloforma led the way, taking their Pista Pro bikes to the overall win in the Alpenrose Six Day and claiming FIAC National Championship jerseys in the process. Anna Christiansen (Ironclad Performance Wear) relied on her explosive uphill power to snag a close second place on the Baker City Classic's queen stage finale in the Elite Women's race, good enough for fourth overall. Megan Chinburg and Brian Gerow top the podium at 6 Hours of Mt HoodAnd lest you think the Veloforma staff is made up of out-of-touch business folk, we were out there mixing it up too. Veloforma's founder and owner, Mark Duff, had impressive rides in the Alpenrose Six-Day, good enough for third overall in the Men's B race, and Josh Liberles, our communications guy, made up for a heartbreaking mechanical (and subsequent 35-mile chase) on the first stage in Baker City with incredible redemption the next day via a fifth place in the time trial and lapping the field that night for fourth place in the criterium in the Elite race.
